The firm’s success is attributed to the founders’ hard work, timeless jewelry, foresight, and commitment to employee welfare, making it a respected name in the jewelry business and a model employer in the region.
From its humble beginnings in 1936 to its present—day
Today, Takle Bandhu Saraf is not only a renowned and leading jewelry firm in Nashik district but also in Maharashtra. Their grand showroom in Nashik’s jewelry market, spanning about four thousand square feet, attracts customers’ attention. However, it has taken nearly seventy-five years to reach this magnificent state.
The shop at its current location was started in 1936 by the then partners: 1) Late Prabhakar V. Takle, 2) Mr. Sadashiv T. Takle, and 3) Mr. S. V. Takle. At that time, it was a small shop. However, even before this, their father, Late Vamanshastri Takle, had started this business at House No. 896, Gaydhani Galli. Late Vamanshastri gave his children not only capital but also practical knowledge and integrity as a precious legacy.
Since then, the growth chart of Takle Bandhu firm has been consistently rising. The area of the initial small shop was expanded by purchasing neighboring shops. In a short time, the shop that was only 108 square feet transformed into a 450 square feet store. With the increased area, the management structure had to change from just the owner and one or two employees. It became necessary to hire salespeople for sales, accountants for bookkeeping, and other staff for various services. This was a distinctive event not only in Nashik’s jewelry market but also for other businesses at that time.
Due to the tireless efforts, intelligence, and ability to accurately foresee the future of the three partners mentioned above, Takle Bandhu firm became the top-ranked in Nashik’s jewelry market.
In 1962, amidst a worrying atmosphere in the country, the ‘Gold Control Act’ came into existence. This dealt a severe blow to this business across India. However, the partners of Takle Bandhu firm faced this crisis without wavering. They took active leadership in the fight against gold control. They also started businesses in cloth, hotels, and plot buying and selling. Over time, the severity of this law was reduced, and fortunately, in 1989, the then Finance Minister, Mr. Madhu Dandavate, completely repealed it.
After 1970, the business space was further expanded. About 1000 square feet of new space was added. Facilities like tea arrangements, toilets, bathrooms, etc., necessary for the staff, were also provided.
This made Takle Bandhu firm a self-sufficient business center. After 1985, the aforementioned partners retired and handed over the business reins to their sons: 1) Mr. Raghuraj S. Takle and 2) Mr. Girish S. Takle. These are the current partners. All partners are highly educated and are leaders in the social sphere as well. Since 1994, about 3500 sq. ft. of space has been added to the business premises. This has increased the total area to about 6000 sq. ft., and about 100 employees are working.
Here, the staff is given all the benefits and concessions required by law. Not only this, but they are also given incentives. This is the only institution in Nashik that does so. There’s a library for the mental development of employees. Physical development is also encouraged. An annual trip to a scenic place is also organized. Employees are also helped generously in times of need. There are examples where a person who started as a sweeper retired as a cashier here due to his competence.
